Latest News!

Habitat is off to a great start this year! We are finishing up a house #25 and starting 2 new homes for families #26 and #27 in Desloge and Park Hills.

If you would like to volunteer, give us a call at 760-1702. We need concrete contractors, framers, plumbers, electricians, drywall hangers and finishers and many general laborers.

As always, thank you for your continued support!

Our Work Projects

Beginning a build

In order to better utilize volunteers, at the beginning of builds, we are adopting a team leader approach. Each leader will be assigned a team of 4-5 volunteers. Team members are asked to commit to working a full four (4) hour shift (either 8:00-12:00 or 1:00-4:00). Each team will have pre-assigned tasks and a leader who has experience in those tasks. Volunteers (female and male) who wish to be kept busy on a work day should sign up ahead of time to be on a team.

You can sign up to be placed on a team by calling Linda Dickerson at 760-1702

Volunteers who do not sign up for a team are still welcome at the site. If a team is not full, you will be assigned to one. We want to make each day as productive as possible. We also want each volunteer’s experience to be safe and enjoyable. We frequently need extra hands for such things as hammering, lifting walls and keeping the jobsite organized.

On site we need volunteers:

  • With construction skills.
  • Without construction skills who want to help with framing, roofing, siding, painting, etc. (If you can hammer, measure, cut, saw or paint you can help.)
  • To clean up and organize supplies and materials throughout the day.
  • To provide snacks and food.
  • (Volunteers must be 16-years-old or older.)

Work day cancellation guidelines

Until we are working inside under roof, heavy rain and inclement weather may prevent us from working. We may work in muddy conditions if it is not raining. We will mostly be on a concrete slab. Ladder work (siding, roofing, etc. will be difficult if the mud is too bad. We may postpone if that is the case. Mud may  prevent the crane from setting up will also delay us. Decisions will be made based on what we have to do and the conditions present at the site.  Please check out our facebook page for up to date workday cancellations.
